Default Engine swap - Help

I have a 94 F150 two wheel drive, 5 speed with the straight 6 300 engine. I am considering swapping that engine for the 302 V8.

I am very mechanical and have worked on cars for years but have never swapped an engine. What am I up against with this project?

I most concerned about the physical size differences of the engines. It seems like the 300 would be longer. Won't this size difference mess up how the tranny mounts to the frame? Will the driveshaft be too short if the transmission is on a shorter engine? Or does the 302 mount deeper under the hood so these are non issues?

What else do I need to be concerned with? Any help or comments would really be appreciated.

Surprised that you would swap the 300 out. That motor will last forever. I think the motor would sit back a bit more. Different mounts. I would keep the six personally.

The motor is only shorter, it doesn't sit back any further. The transmission is in the same spot because if it wasn't the shifter would be in the wrong spot.

Id be concerned that your pulling a 300 for a 302! Your fuel mileage will stay the same but youll lose torque.
