Engine shuts down when hot but gauge normal
I have a '91 F-150, straight 6. 75'000 original miles.
Sometime last year I started having problems with over heating.
I installed new radiator and hoses and thermostat.
I'm now having problems with it shutting down after I've driven it for close to 40 minutes, or 20 mins in stop and go traffic. The mechanic just replaced the coil and a couple of sensors and it didn't solve the problem.
Now, the engine does not seem to be over heating. The gauge is just slightly over
1/2 way, and when I try to remove the radiator cap it seems to just be normally hot.
Mechanic seems to not have a clue what is causing it.
Has anyone had any similar problems?
