While driving my 1995 302 engine down the interstate I heard a zinging noise, then lost power.I was about 40 miles from home so limped it home. I added 2 qts. oil 1st 2 miles, even though dip stick was good.It shifted good all along and I did'nt push it real heard. I could hear it's limit, so I did not push it any hearder than I thought it could take.But boy did it hammer all the way. Am guessing it is the oil pump.It quit when I let off the gas.But a few days letter I started it right up and drove it 3 miles home.It ideled ruff but did not die on me when I put it in pk.The guage never went over to hot when this happened but the oil guage went all the way over.I drained the oil and there is no shavings in the pan.So do you think I can put a new oil pump in it and it will be ok or is it shot???What do you sugest?? Any help would be appricated. It is a4x4 crew cab in good condition with a recently overhauled front end how much is it worth with a bad engine?Thanks for any help!
