94 l6 bad fuel milage
i have a 94 l6 5 speed 4x4. im getting around 12 mpgs. after i took the cats out i was getting 16 mpgs. now its back down. i replaced cap, rotor, fuel filter already. i dont know what else to do. the only things left that could be changed plugs, wires but they look new. o2 sensor,or the injectors too. im fed up with getting suck bad mileage and to the point to where i wanna sell it and get some thing newer but this is what im stuck with. so please i need help any ideas are appreciated.

It's a Canadian thing eh!
Is the CEL on? Are the plugs gapped correctly? Is it 4x4 and do you drive with the hubs locked? Tires good pressure? Try a better air filter? Drive the speed limit? Change oil to synthetics. Also a timing bump does wonders.
All this minor stuff adds up fast.

No cel. Tires at good pressure. I want to advance the timing but I can't seem to find the mark on the balancer. Hubs aren't frozen either.

Use some sandpaper or a wire wheel on the balancer and they will show up. Remember to pull the SPOUT before adjusting the timing.

The computer can store codes even if the CEL isn't on.
Since your gas mileage increased when you pulled the cats they must have been clogged. Pull the plugs and check the resistance on the wires. Replace the plugs with a Motorcraft or Autolite copper core plugs.

Also have a I6 300 with poor mileage. It's winter, so hubs are locked in but tire pressure is right, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter and thermostat were just changed. I don't drive it aggressively, just to work n back. I need suggestions with this issue also!
