Default 4.9 rebuild

Tearing down my old 4.9 got a question for you guys. Which one is the intake and which one is the exhaust and do you have to keep them separate? This picture is from the front of the engine passenger side.

doesnt matter, just get the tool, or make one for applying pressure to the hydraulic lifters in order to check for spacing between the rocker and valve, then get longer or shorter push rods to get it within spec.

and make sure you put thread locker on the bolts when you put them back in for good

i dont recall, sorry. they list it in the haynes manual. you could make something that will work with a little bit of spare steel, but if the engines still in the truck you may not be able to reach the last couple cylinders worth unless you make a custom tool anyways
