Wierd Transmission Noises
2006 F150 4x4 with 158,000 miles. Sounds like a free wheeling gear in the transmission that gets louder with acceleration. The sound stops when you do. Will start back up again on acceleration. Sometimes it will go away for weeks then show up again. It is much louder outside the cab than inside. Is this a problem with the 4 wheel drive? When I shift into 4 wheel is seems to work fine. no noise.
