Trying to match 9140 foglight to factory hids
Besides doing a full hid setup on the fogs what have u have found to be a decent match to the factory hids. This topic has not been brought up for a while. It looks like a lot of guys were trying the putcos but I would like to stick with a halogen. Just seeing if anyone has found a decent halogen lately.

Ha, well done Wayne ^^^
Anyway, I went the Putco route...for 3 weeks and then sold them to a member here. Sure the color match was closer, but the light output was useless in my opinion.

I researched like crazy and ended up going with the Philips Crystal Vision Ultra in a 9145 bulb size. The 9140 and 9145 are the same bulb aside from the wattage. The 9140 is 40 watts and the 9145 is 45 watts. The additional 5 watts does help some, but the OEM HIDs still wash out any benefit of the fogs. However the CVUs were the best value for a "white" halogen. No halogen will give you the appearance or color match of the HIDs without some serious bulb tint/color addition. That tint also decreases output and bulb life.
For me the CVUs were the best of all worlds.
Choose as you will though and as always...post pics!

My suggestion would be to install a yellow halogen bulb or 3000K HIDs.
Ever wondered why even million dollar cars don't come with HIDs in the fogs? Reason being is because white light doesn't cut through rain/fog, it reflexes back towards the drive, making it even harder to see. BUT yellow light(close to normal halogen) cuts through rain/fog. Same reason why every car that does 24hr racing has yellow heads and fogs.
I have 3000K in my fogs and a set of Hellas with 3000K in them and in the fog I actually see farther when I turn my OEM HIDs OFF and run only my yellow fogs.

The look of the yellow fogs is why I did them, I have always loved the IS300 look. Once I went yellow fogs, 3 trucks ago, I not only love the look I love the performance if them.
I'm running theretrofitsource.com kit. Best on the market! Worth every penny, no issues at all. Have had many brands of HIDs and the TRS kit is the only one to give me ZERO issues.
