Default For those in Canada with OEM hid conversion on 09+ (daytime runners.)

I'm curious with those of you that have daytime runners if the HIDs come on as a low beam for DRLights or does the amber turn Signal come on as the DRL like the 13/14s stock.

This would be using the morimoto harness.

If not what do I have to do with the wiring and or headlight switch for this function?

Thanks.

Found the answer elsewhere.

When the low voltage DRL signal comes on when truck is in gear it triggers the relay in the harness and the relay then supplies the full 12+volts to the lights rather than having them fired at 80% voltage like the halogens get. So in essence DRL won't hurt your HIDs but they will always be lit when in drive unless you can get your dealer to shut them off through the ECU and most likely won't due to the legislation in Canada.

On the 11/12s dealer can't program amber running lights as the DRL like the 13/14s come from factory.

if your truck is a 13/14 you can get the drl reprogrammed from the low beam to the parking light. Just did it on my 13 XLT.

I got a 11 and had no issue the current for the drl is enough to switch on the relay. The drl just ends up being full low beam.

To anyone who was curious like I was back when I did this conversion nothing was available to make 11/12 trucks use the amber turn signals as DRL's.

Now fast forward 6 months and we have an awesome PC application that you can hook to your truck and edit some things in the BCM like DRL's.

They can be set to Signals or Fog lights instead of the low beam headlight which would always activate your HIDS on.

Check out this thread for details!
