What functions are not allowed using the 4 pin connector?

Reverse light and 12v+ power required for indicators that scan opposed to just blink.

I should clarify this is for the Recon Extreme led tailgate bar which I would NOT recommend buying it's by far the most feature and best looking bar on the market but has lousy build quailty. If you have ones with basic turn, running and break light the 4 pin plug is fine if you don't mind unplugging it if needed.

Does anyone make an adapter to give another 7 or 4 pin? Example- on my last truck(avalanche) there was only the 7 way. I didn't want to hardwire the tailgate lightbar but still wanted to use my 7 way if needed. I found an adapter which added a 4 way behind the factory 7 way. I can't remember the brand of it though for anything. You would unplug the factory 7 way from the back, then plugin the adapter with the extra 4 way, then reconnect the factory wiring to the adapter. That would give you the extra 4 way for a lightbar and still have the factory 7 & 4. Hopefully that makes sense. It did in my head anyway..Thought maybe someone on here knows.

The way I look at is if I'm pulling my boat or utility trailer you can't see the bar anyway so it's a moot point, the spring loaded door on the 4 pin connector makes it invisible when plugged in unless you're looking right at it. Then you notice the door sticking up a little, the connector on the dynamics bar is fairly heavy duty so it should be ok for many years even plugging/unplugging it multiple times a day which we all know is not going to happen, I've only unplugged mine 3 times in a year.

I have a distaste in hacking the factory wiring for any reason.

To each his own, I use mine a lot more often than that. Thanks for the replies anyway, though.

I can't see squat in my "14" nav backup camera so I'm looking into extra backup lights. I know recon has one with the backup feature... does the other recommended brand?
If so, does anyone have this and can they verify that you can actually see in total darkness with the backup camera? My driveway is dark as can be and I found the house lights just blind the camera, so I gotta put something on the truck
I know rigid bumper mounted diffused led is the way to go, but I'm not sure I wanna hack into my bumper

Custom Dynamics does make a tailgate bar with back-ups lights:

http://www.customdynamics.com/truck_led_light_bar.htm

Scroll down on that page to the "magic-flex" bar.

I don't own it, so I can't say if it'll put out enough light to help out your camera or not, though.

There are less expensive options than Rigid for doing auxiliary reverse lighting too. I have a cheap set of Ebay LED lights ($60) mounted below the bumper that provide plenty of light. You could also mount them on the rear shackles of the leaf springs or on the hitch receiver if you have a tow package. Definitely don't have to hack up the bumper to add lights to the back or pay outrageous Rigid prices.
