Default Sylvania ZEVO LED Review

In my last truck, a 1998 Ranger, I had all-LED tail and brake lights. I missed the crisp lighting that the LEDs offered, and I also wanted some LED reverse lights. Enter the ZEVO. Brand new from Sylvania, the ZEVO bulb is, IMHO, pretty damn bright. The lights I got for my 2005 F150 XLT stock housings have a trident-looking reflector, pushing more light off to the sides and on angles unlike older LEDs (like the ones in my old Ranger) that only had diodes on the end and sides with no reflectors. I got red for the brakes and 6000K cool white for the reverse lights. The red was hitting highway delineators 100ft behind me and across the 4-lane interstate. Not bad for two diodes per unit. As far as price goes, they ran me $25 a pair. Compared to buying a whole new housing for integrated LED taillights, you're way better off getting a ZEVO. Out of all the good, the only complaint I have is the ZEVOs don't have integrated resistors, so you'll have to replace the turn signal relay to avoid hyperflashing. Other than that, they are arguably the best LEDs on the market, and they don't break the bank to boot.

I have them in my tail lights. They're definitely brighter than stock and do a good job. For reverse and front directionals, they could be better.

The zevo 194 license plate LEDs are also really good.

None of the LEDs I know of have build in resistors. You either need to add them or replace your flasher unit (04-08 only) with an EP-27.

Yep, I ended up replacing the flasher when I installed the taillights. I got a pair of non-ZEVO 4157s in amber for my front directionals, and those aren't as great since they have no forward projection. They're still brighter and clearer, but the ZEVO would've been better.

I wish there was a Led flasher relay for my 2012, but my research shows nothing yet.

There's not. 04-08 only. Your truck isn't set up the same way so it's just not possible.

Resistors aren't hard to install though.
