If you want the best of both worlds, light output and the tinted look, go with an hid upgrade with dark shrouds and do not add a tint to the headlight. From almost any angle the headlights will appear tinted but without the drawbacks of light output. It is really surprising how dark mine look with black shrouds and chrome buckets.
