Default Rigid Light Bar in Intercooler Opening

Hey, I have a 2011 F-150 FX4 EcoBoost and I recently bought the Rigid Industries Dully D2's and the Rigid Industries E Series 10'' Light Bar. My thought was to put one D2 in each Fog Light Opening and the 10'' in the Intercooler Opening. I went with the 10'' to not restrict the airflow so much.

I have now been contemplating selling them and just going with a 20'' light bar to put into the intercooler opening but I am concerned about choking the intercooler and ruining my HP and Gas milage. Does anyone have any real world experience with running a 20'' in the intercooler opening? Should I stick with my original plan and run the D2's in Fog and 10'' or Swap out for the 20''?

Last thing to consider is running the D2 and 10'' setup I think will be more pratical for driving around town and wont attract as much attention as keeping my HID Fogs and running a 20'' bar. Was thinking that could be asking for me being pulled over more.

I mounted a 20" Vision X in my bumber. V8 tho, had no worries about air flow.

Thinking of doing the same thing - any update? Did you ever do the 20" in the IC gap? If not, is the 10" in the gap sufficiently bright for you?

Yea I went with the 10" and the Dually D2's in the fog light holes.

The 10" with the Dually's are perfect. The 20" Would have taken up too much room. The 10" doesn't block the intercooler too much. I haven't noticed any drop in MPG's or Air Temp. I have been monitoring it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Looks great! Think that might be my solution...

I wonder what your Ford dealer would say if they saw the intercooler opening filled up wih a light? I hate the unfinished look, but I would not want my warranty cancelled because of light.

My Ford dealer has serviced my truck twice since I did the install. They are perfectly cool with it since I have a great relationship with them. They love what I do and have done to my truck.

Problems with Ford dealers are all about relationships and also what you do or break on the truck haha.

Say hello to void warranty. There's been so many threads on this I'm surprise people still do it.

The EcoBoost is a special engine. It's great and all, hell I drive one, but because it's in the realm of new tech which as well all know has its flaws. There are so many reports of shuttering and inter cooler issues and more I'm not sure why you would risk this. If you have a problem with that engine, god forbid, you will lose your warranty. Throw a bar behind the grille.

I did a lot of research before I went and did this. I also have a SCT TSX tuner so I a able to monitor my engine while I drive. I can say that with the 10" bar there was no change in air temp into my intercooler and Air flow around the light bar is still very good.

Also, I am just about done with my warranty on my truck and I need the extra light for the backroads and VT driving. My ford dealer is not one to screw me over if I ever had a problem. And if I did. I would take the lights off. I don't know why people freak out over these things. I am fully aware of the risks involved in what I do but the rewards are def worth the risk for me at least.

That's great your inter cooler stats haven't changed but it doesn't change the fact that people without bars or what not blocking the passage they have issues. So IF you ever had a problem it may not be directly due to the bar but Ford may not care and blame it on that. Your dealer doesn't get to decide if they can or can't fix that kind of problem for you under warranty. They talk to HQ and do what they say, it's not up to the dealer. And I think anyone you ask will know what HQ will say.

I'm not overly worked up. It just doesn't make sense to me why you wouldn't just completely avoid the risk and throw one behind the grille. It's more protected, less likely to get stolen, and only loses a little bit of light. Doesn't make sense to me. That's all.
