Yes that will work. You can tap into the blue/white wire going into the reverse light (and keep your tap out of the weather) or into the reverse wire on the 7-pin connector for the trailer.
The truck should have come with a wiring diagram for that or you can Google "ford 7 pin trailer wiring diagram" and find the correct wire in that bundle. I believe it's the center pin, but you should check to be sure.

Quick question, what would be the best thing to do with the ground from the light?

Center wire on the connector is reverse.

The rear lights are a great add. I added a blue lens to mine, wired direct and very nice early mornings. My only issues is that if I were to not use the lens, I could mount them flush, unless I open the hole and I didn't want to break paint on the bumpers yet. Maybe once I bang em up a bit. Pardon the dirt
