Default Rigid Dually Diffused Backup Lights

OK, got my lights yesterday and installed them on my '13 FX2. I didn't want to do any drilling so I mounted them on existing screws on the bumper. I also felt that mounting them under and back a little bit would limit the available light output.

My initial installation was going to use the 7-pin trailer connection. I bought the trailer side of the connector and wired it up. Nothing. Check the voltage and it was about 8-10v (old analog meter, hard to read). Check at battery, reads 10+. Run wires directly off battery, lights work. OK, so it's not the lights. I return the 7-pin connector and get a different one thinking there is something wrong with it. Same issue, except with only one light plugged in it will blink now. Cool, a strobe light!

I decided to skip the trailer connection and just tap into the reverse wire on the truck side of the connector. Bingo! Bright light!

Has anyone ever seen voltage drop across the trailer connector? Doesn't seem right.

Very happy with light output for use as a backup aid. Will work on angling them a bit to see if that helps or not.

I'll get a night shot and a rear camera shot later.

I know, truck is dirty. Just got back from the shooting range which has a long gravel driveway.

I just completed the same install using Rigid Dually Floods but I mounted mine to the "shackle" bracket underneath the bumper to avoid the Theft potential.

Can you post a pic of where you mounted the toggle switch?

I used the wiring harness and extended using 25' of 16 gage wire running a Direct battery connection. I tow a bass boat and am looking forward to lighting up the ramp when I'm putting in at 5 am...

Thanks,

No switch yet. Just picked up the reverse power line in the trailer connector so they go on whenever I'm in reverse.

I want to add an on-off-on switch. One ON position for reverse and one ON position for whenever the key is on. I can't decide on a location for the switch.

Those look great! We sell a ton of the duallies for use as back up lights. I think the diffused is the way to go.
