R.S. 32:321, shall be dimmed to avoid glare at all times, regardless of road contour and loading.

This here talks about glare, which in daylight is not bad at all. Also if you read it right I said I don't drive much during the night, other than off-road or back roads, and I'm sure they aren't gonna tell me anything there.

RS 32:303
D.(1) Every headlamp described in this Section shall emit a white light only, including light emitted by white high intensity discharge forward lighting.
(2) No motor vehicle shall be equipped with headlamps that are off-road colored lights. The provisions of this Subparagraph shall not apply to white emitting lights.

My lights are pure white...

I've been to the LA DMV and police station. Also looked it up and here are the sites on Louisiana headlight laws. No where above does it say anything about being to bright, other than the glare part, but that is when its dark. And in RS 32:303 code, the light emitted shall only be white. My bulbs are white, pure white, so no one can tell me they are the "wrong color".

There's my info and research I've done upon getting them. IDK where you are from, but from state to state it may/will be different. Not every place is the same laws. Generically yea, but being defined to certain extents to different little things here and there will be called on differently. And here in LA, these are the laws here.

And yes, I've read some forums and seen the BAN on HIDs in LA, but it isn't in the code law book that I've seen in person at the police station.

And I may be wrong on something, if anyone else has correct info on LA laws with the lights to add, please let me know. But as far as I can find, being asking at the DMV and Police stations, there isn't really anything else on it. And I asked 2x before leaving, "Is that the only codes on lights?", and the reply was "Yes".
You should brush up on your state laws.

RS 32:334

§334. Installation or use of certain lamps prohibited
A. No person shall install upon or as part of the equipment of a motor vehicle, any head lamp, auxiliary or fog lamp, rear lamp, signal lamp, or reflector, or parts of any of the foregoing, which tend to change the original design or performance, unless the lamp or parts of the lamp is in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, as adopted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
B. No person shall operate a motor vehicle that is equipped with any head lamp, auxiliary or fog lamp, rear lamp, signal lamp, or reflector, or parts of any of the foregoing, which tend to change the original design or performance, unless the lamp or parts of the lamp is in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, as adopted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
C. An official inspection station shall be prohibited from issuing an official certificate of inspection to the driver of a motor vehicle that is in violation of this Section.
D.(1) A first violation of the provisions of Subsection A or B of this Section shall be punishable by a fine of fifty dollars.
(2) Each subsequent violation shall be punishable by a fine of an additional twenty-five dollars to the original fine.
Acts 2011, No. 202, §1.

HID kits installed in halogen reflector housings do NOT meet the federal standards as provided in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108 for beam pattern, and several other requirements. Again, as has already been pointed out, and yet you continue to argue, your lights are illegal at best, and generally dangerous to every other person driving on the road. Please, for the sake of my family that lives in Louisiana, and anyone else driving in the state, if you are going to use HID lighting, do it correctly and use an appropriate HID Projector.

Thanks for adding the info for it. I was unaware of this part, as when I asked at the station and DMV, I was not shown this area by them. I was failed to be shown or told about this RS.

Reason? I don't drive very much during the night. I work out of town most of the time, so I'm staying in a hotel or rent place, so I pretty much work from morning till about an hour before dark. I only drive at night on weekends I'm home and that's in the country and back roads, highways that don't have much traffic or right in town to the store or something. If I ever need anything, I get it done during the day 95% of the time.

Its been a bit cloudy, so they've been running a little bit with the auto lights turned on during the day. I've been using and going to be using them as/for looks. That's the reason I didn't go with the retrofit or "proper" housing for them, because of the minor and very little use of them actually being on in the pure dark. And going to the camp or offroading. Hope that clears up some misunderstandings or anything being concerned about brightness..
Now I can understand about using them in the day, which I don't do because there is absolutely no point in doing that, other than the auto-lights being on when when cloudy, which can easily be turned off.

But, like I've said, I've gotten them for looks/off-roading. That is the reason I posted what I did about the law, towards the defense in what I use them for, looks and off-roading.

I said I only drive in the night during the weekends, off-road, and/or some back roads (very, very little traffic to none at all during night times where I live). During the week I work away from home, and before it gets to dark, I have already gotten me a bite to eat and back to the hotel or where ever I am staying at the time. There is no reason for me to be driving at night while I'm working.

I have passed plenty of cops already in the past few days with them on during the day <- contradicting myself... but I'm in the little happy phase of just having them on finally, now done and over with the phase - and none of the cops have flicked thier lights at me or stopped me for them. They can't stop me for having them on during off-road at the camp or in the woods, because they are considered as "looks only or off-road only lights" from what I read, unless housed properly with the right fittings for the glare and cutoff.

That's the whole reason I got them, and said multiple times, looks and off-road. There is nothing illegal for using them for what they are considered for and having them off-road.

So, I'll go over it again in numbers:

1) I got them for off-road use and looks.

2) I only drive during the night time when I'm home on weekends, off-road. Minimal highway use around very little to no traffic at all, to get to my camp and wooded area. That's if I'm not already there.

3) Weekly night time use = None.

4) Daytime use = None/auto-lights

5) If I ever do drive at night when I am home for what ever reason, I use my girlfriends car, which saves gas, better mileage and I don't have to worry about using my lights blinding others.

I said it before, please, please read before stating something someone already knows. I have previously posted why I have gotten them and when I use them. And maybe if you have read it before saying anything about them, I wouldn't have written up this novel length of a reply.

Anyway, thanks for the added info on the law towards the lighting again, but I have said about it already them not being illegal if housed properly with the right stuff. I wasn't wrong about them not being illegal, if you would have just read what I put, about them being off-road used in my situation. Others may be using them for a source of light to be able to see on the road or everyday use, but I'm not.

regardless of how often you do or do not use them, the fact remains that you still have them, meaning they are still illegal :-/

I do not see how you people don't understand. They are an off-road light, being used off-road. There is nothing illegal about that. There is nothing more to it. You are able to use them off road, which is the reason I got them and what they are used for.

It really doesn't get anymore simpler than that.

If I used for highway use, then yes. Off-road, no.

Stock housing with illegal lighting source that you use. I don't see what you don't understand about this.

That doesn't apply to the off-road use as the light is for, whether its stock housing or not. It's illegal to operate it that way on public roads using it to enhance your vision. Away from the public roads, on private property, all it is, is a light bulb in a housing. There is no law prohibiting you to use it this way on a private property telling you specifically what to use and how to use it. That is for highway use. Also, there aren't any motorist or drivers in my woods.

Its like saying you can't drive a 20'' lifted truck with 40s or something at a mudfest.

On a public road, you wouldn't be able to drive it because your light have to be x-amount distance from road.
But, off-road, that lift and vehicle is perfectly fine because the state light laws has nothing to do with it being off of the public road.
You can drive it around all you want on you property or anywhere that is not a public area where the law comes into affect.

Just like my lights, I can drive around my property all the f**k I want with stock housing and not have a problem while I'm off-road and away from the public roadways. When I get onto a road, then I have a chance to get stopped.

There is a difference between public and private use.

You openly admitted you used them on public roads. Regardless of how much traffic you pass, what time, etc it's still illegal.

What don't YOU understand about that?

Yea, I did say I used them on the road, and I was wrong about them be illegal on the road... I admit it, I was WRONG about it, but the state troopers, sheriffs and town cops I've passed with them on didn't stop me, even with them being illegal...ok, what ever. But as soon as my tires are on private property they aren't. And that is my point I am trying to make... the off-road use of them are not illegal. You and anyone else can say they are illegal all you want, they aren't off-road. There is NO glare when the lights aren't on, so you can't say there is glare for other people. That's just a lame excuse your going to keep coming back too, but remember I'm off-road.
