Question About Switching to D1S HID Bulbs (Have D3S Now)
I have a set of aftermarket headlights that are set up to fit the factory HID ballasts and bulbs, so I have D3S bulbs in there now with the stock 55w ballasts. The light output is good, but I want more.
I want more light output so want to switch to a 55w ballasts, so will need to get a 55w bulb. I can't seem to find ANY 55w D3S bulbs out there, so was told that D1S would fit into the headlights just the same as the D3S will, and that I'll just need to get D1S ballasts to match.
Questions is this..... Does anyone have any recommendations on a good source for 55w D1S Ballasts and Bulbs? Also, does this sound like it would give me better light output?
Edit: I was just told that there isn't a difference between a 35w labeled HID bulb and a 55w labeled HID bulb, that the wattage comes from the ballast and all the HID bulbs are the same wattage. So that would mean a standard HID bulb could handle the higher wattage ballast.

Old thread, what make model of OEM style 55w ballasts did you end up purchasing? I'm having difficulty locating a 55w balast upgrade for the OEM HID setup.
