I am gonna try and open up my 2013 oem projectors. I have some water marks on my right passenger head light. Any tips on this? What do I remove before heating them up? Ballast and bulb for sure anything else I should be aware of? What about temperature in the oven? Any info or tips is appreciated guys thanks.

I've been opening up headlights by putting the housing in the oven for 8-10 minutes at 200-225*F

Then just use a long flathead screwdriver to pry it open. Try not to break the tabs that hold it together for when you reseal them.

Hope this helps.

The new glue or whatever they use on the '13 heads need a little longer than the '12's and older. Turn the oven on 215, leave in for about 12 minutes then carefully pry. Depending on how easy/hard it is, you may have to throw it back in for a few minutes to reheat. This is what I have done on 3 sets of '13 F150 heads and 3 sets of '13 Explorer heads to retro in the Evox-R's.

What are you using to reseal them? Regular silicone or something that might work better?

Use this stuff here: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=792

Better than silicone and just works great. You may be able to find it elsewhere, but that's what I would recommend.

Use the stuff that sdatrlp23 said. Butyl is the way to go. It is what I use on all of mine. Easy and top quality.

How much trouble is it to get the headlight apart once it's opened?

I mean is it snapped, screwed, or glued together?

I just want to paint the "C" around the projector silver.
