If you have done any auto body work, you can retrofit your headlights. I did mine over a weekend and they've held up for 1.5 years now. I could do a better job on another set, but more than happy with my own work vs $1000+ in labor...

Im just throwing out that there are other options that have the same quality for less money, and without the months of lead time. bottom line, he does great work.. if you want to wait and pay, go for it. If not, the lead time at Raptor Retro is much less and does fantastic work as well. there are issues that are out of the retro'rs hands such as the crappy Morimoto XB halos, that like to burn out, but I'm hoping the new RGB XC halos i have dont do the same. do your research, and dig deep in those pockets lol
No doubt there are others out there but the problem is finding them and the reputation that goes with. I looked between Raptor, Bilinvic, and Yukes but went with Bilinvic due to his background in model work and the glowing reviews that at the time outweighed the others.

I guess it's up to the person wether they felt like they over/under paid but I felt that for the money I got a great one of a kind product.

$1000 in labor is a little exaggeration depending on what you want to do. For me I had the chrome halogens and wanted FX heads for my retro. The cost included bulbs, projectors, ballasts, rubber caps, sealant, NEW FX heads. I also did custom paint on reflector bowels, projector shrouds and tinted the turn signal and marker reflector dark.

I think that anyone who has put the time into doing a really good retro (at the level these guys do it) will tell you it's more than a weekend unless you aren't doing any painting etc.

I'm not saying don't do you're own, have at it but for me $1500 was ok for me. Yes I had to wait months, he is a one man show, yes it was expensive but I love it and will get years of use out of them as this is a drive it until wheels fall off truck and customer service was second to none. Not saying Yukes or Dawson's is bad, I just have dealt with Bil. Dawson was awesome to work with for my XB LED fogs so I'm sure the same service is extended to the retro side.

Default Lighting suggestions - HID Conversion or LED Bar?

When I did my set it took me about a week balancing working on the headlights between college and plans with friends. Color matched housings, color matched shrouds, blue oracle plasma halos, projectors with a red passive demon eye, red reflector, custom FX4 decal on the reflector. All that for less than $300 including a new set of heads. Did I use cheap components and get the halos for free? Yes. Do I have substantially better output for a fraction of the price? Absolutely. I'm sure I will do retrofits on other vehicles in the future and might shell out for more expensive components. But for the driving I do, and the budget I had, these components are perfect. I say build your own set if you have the time. Depending on what projector you use it can be a simple install or a more difficult install. The ones I used I didn't have to cut the reflector bowl at all, others you've got to recess the projector in the bowl. Just depends on what you want and feel comfortable doing.
