That's because he only does new. New OEM HIDs are that much more. That's why I did the halogen housings. I do like the look of the OEM hid housings but I saved the $700 and put that towards customization of the halogens. Mine out the door with shipping was $1500 and that's with every upgrade except for halos and OSRAM bulbs.

I was just listing his as an example.... Raptor Retrofit would be $1800ish with the OEM HID w/EVO X-R.

Although raptor will let me send in a pair of OEM headlights for the work vs having them supply them.... cost there would be $600 + a set of HID's

Yes there are and they all vary on every level. Bilinvic happens to be towards the top with his attention to detail and customer service.

To me it's a get what you pay for thing. I wanted it done right the first time. When researching is saw so many nightmares of hazing, not sealed tight, ****ty alignment, etc!

You can always do it yourself for 1/2 the money

That's the option I used. Spent about $250 and got significantly better output than stock. That included new housings. I'm having an issue with mine right now but it's not housing related. It's ballast/relay related. Something isn't quite right with those components.

Certainly can do it yourself, but look closely at the thread that details out what one person is going through to do it right himself. I have had a set of headlights retroed by another company. Just because you pay a lot of money goes not mean you always get the quality you expect. When your dealing with a critical component to your truck like headlights, there is not a lot of room for error. I would rather have OEM halogens than the possibility of them not working at a critical time.

Yes, I finally ended up at Bil's with a 1st class product, not just in appearance, but in functionality and durability as well. Think about it, your not replacing a cargo light here, it's your ability to see at night!

You do at times get what you pay for, but just as important I have not heard one negative reply regarding Bil's headlights except regarding the issue of price. Ask anyone who went too cheap or with a questionable company and you will likely find regret in many cases. Bil is certainly not the only guy who can retro a headlight, but he is most certainly a well reviewed supplier. In my book that kind of knowledge is worth s lot.

Yep, I concur with all you said. I also have mine from Bil and have had no issues with the retro. Been on the truck about a year now.

I'm a big fan of you get what you pay for and this is no exception! It's funny because here we are dropping $30-60k for trucks and some balk at $1500 for quality retro! They would rather put Spyder or go with fly by night company to save a few hundred! If you're looking to pinch pennies and save a few hundred then maybe this isn't a mod you should be looking at.

Now with that said, I know there are some out there that want the satisfaction of doing the job themselves, I get that. I'm too impatient to do it myself as I've read too many nightmares of screwed up jobs.

as someone with Yukes retros, (the carbon fiber ones with EVO-XRs), to me its not about price as it pretty much doesnt get more expensive than that. but for what he charges vs say raptor retrofit is a joke. this could come back for my love for rigid and you get what you pay for, but in this case youre paying for something 100 other retrofitters do at less cost. my buddy got a quote from RR for OEM HIDs with upgraded projectors, and it was substantially less than halogen retros from bill. Im just throwing out that there are other options that have the same quality for less money, and without the months of lead time.

bottom line, he does great work.. if you want to wait and pay, go for it. If not, the lead time at Raptor Retro is much less and does fantastic work as well. there are issues that are out of the retro'rs hands such as the crappy Morimoto XB halos, that like to burn out, but I'm hoping the new RGB XC halos i have dont do the same.

do your research, and dig deep in those pockets lol
