They look good! I like how you colour matched the inside, instead of the chrome, I can't wait to see them on your truck. Hurry up and get it done already.

Can't hurry, the one bezel has a few more days to go before I can really let it get heated up in the housing....

Also I need to find a more reliable source for the ballast block off plates, or used, non working OEM ballasts to put in their stock location.... I have one, one got lost in the mail, and getting the replacement has not been going smoothly. Though, I haven't been pushing the issue too much anyway since I'm sort of disappointed in the source.

Everyone is disappointed in Joseph, aka TuxedoBlack. His customer service is god awful.

I'd send an email over to raptor retrofit and see what hes doing to block off the ballasts

Was considering talking to Dawson. I want to see what I can come up with first.

as for the source, which I have only previously mentioned and will not mention again. Communication goes a long way and I was ready to praise his efforts, but I was promised a new plate, and I would send what I was refunded from USPS to cover it just to be a good buyer... No info.. So i've sent 2 emails, no info, no response. At this point, I'm disappointed and done. So I'll come up with other methods, or talk to other sources.

Sounds like his MO for a while now. There was a big thread where he basically said his customers come after his job and family.

I get that but don't take people's money and make commitments and not follow through.

To be fair, I do have money back from USPS for the plate that went missing... and I want to give him the money for a replacement plate due to material and tooling costs. I'm all good with that. I just need something speedier than a month from now.

I don't want to attack the guy. I understand job and family is first, but if you're running a business, that should also be very high up there.

Packaging was the reason the plate went missing. Aluminum plates in carboard USPS envelope and no reinforcements = no no.

Oh well, live and learn.

I reached out to Dawson and will be buying plates from him next week. Wish I had done that to begin with.

Well, sad news... The passenger lens is not fixable... I was able to magnify the cracks enough to look at them (i used a lazer pointer lens)... The cracks between the top and back later of plastic as well... Which means the laminate that was on it, likely started the cracks and I made it worse in the oven.

I can't do anything but polish it at this point. They won't be visable until light hits them... When I have the extra 200 bones to drop on a headlight, I'll get it and swap the lens... In the mean time. I'm just going to polish them and deal with it...

*sigh*

Being the first time I ever did a retro, I expected some problems. But this passenger headlight has been a b***h since I got it. As soon as I unboxed it I had a bad feeling about it... Covered in mud, scratched to hell... It was a warning from the start

BUT i like projects, and I don't consider this a failure. I learned a lot and hopefully are helping others learn from mistakes or findings along the way.

What I may do is get two perfect housings, swap my stuff, put my extra Evo's in them, then sell them as a deeply discounted imperfect retrofit... Someone is bound to ****** them up for their own R&R or maybe they don't care about perfection as much as I, or maybe they have the ability to fab a new clear lens. ( thought about vacuum forming a new one. but I just don't have the time and ability to do that right now)
