That sealed the deal for me! For some reason, I thought I would have to drill into the metal part of the door and not the plastic panel, DOH!!! Thanks for the detailed write up Merlin!

Smart idea in the door panel. I installed mine within the puddle lamps at first, and that location is horrible. Drilled a hole at the furthest most point of mirror bottom and they still wash down the door. If I get the urge when the weather gets better, I will move these down to this location.

Update from a year ago. Lights didn't last long in the puddle location. Not waterproof. Have another set I am putting under the doors today. Will silicone and dielectric grease everything. Just not sure what wire in the door is the courtesy circuit. Would rather not have to go out the door and down to the sill if I don't have to.
