That sealed the deal for me! For some reason, I thought I would have to drill into the metal part of the door and not the plastic panel, DOH!!! Thanks for the detailed write up Merlin!

Smart idea in the door panel. I installed mine within the puddle lamps at first, and that location is horrible. Drilled a hole at the furthest most point of mirror bottom and they still wash down the door. If I get the urge when the weather gets better, I will move these down to this location.
