2. I mounted mine in a somewhat untraditional fashion but it was worth the work. The plastic part of the lens where most of the light comes through is actually much thicker then the rest of the plastic so i simply let the led's rest on it. Im very OCD so it took a few tries to get it to sit perfect but like i said when i was out tailgating for a few hours and had a few beers i forgot the interior lights had been on the whole time. When i finally realized it and closed the doors i was expecting to see burn marks there was NOTHING!!

3. I did try one other mounting method you may or may not like. I took the chrome buckets and flipped them and placed the LED's inside so that the light was only shinning through the very small holes normally at the top where the hole for the stock bulbs is. It provided a more directional beam of light and illuminates mostly the front instead of a flood light that spreads around the truck.

Hope this helps or is at least a starting point bud.
I did end up leaving the foils in place,I found that it gave a good backing and was easier for me to mount them squarely in the lens
I agree there's no concern for burn marks ,so mine are actually sitting on the lens
I understand what your saying about flipping the foil , but I do like the flood light, just not all the time,.I;; be looking for a dimmer switch. Just a small **** mounted next to the light

Here's a little humor
Now we all have our duh moments(I have a lot more then most people) I installed Jons kit and when I did the cargo and third brake light I couldn't get the brake light to work, even with the stock bulb.
So 3 days of searching the forums I didn't find any help.I was ready to take it to the dealer
then yesterday ,working on the beach in 50mph winds,it hit me,,,you dumb ***** .
To check the brake light I was using the emergency brake

I ordered and have installed the upgrade kit of:
  • Domes
  • License
  • Vanity
  • Puddles
  • Reverse beam
Dome......Left the factory reflectors out but found the panels failed to mount steadily the way I wanted them to.....so I kinda wedged them in slightly facing the seats and used a little scotch tape to keep them in place. You cannot see the tape through the lens once you put it back on and really maximizes the aiming of the led array.

Puddles.....Tried heating the lense but no dice getting it off....used dremel around the lowerlip of the lens and coaxed it off slowly....installed provided festoon-typelamps....and sealed lenses back on housing....AMAZING improvement over factory

Vanity.....got to the lamp housing easily but found coaxing the bulbs out was impossible without cutting the 1/2 surround plastic "flap", which allowed me to put a pliers with vacuum hose tips to remove the bulb. Oh yeh, when you remove the light/mirror assy from the visor, keep it closed and just kinda pry the lamp assy loose and work with it that way, cautious of the pins in the flip up door (push them back in to make sure they do not fall out) and be really tender on the wiring that goes to the switch, as it looks like they are very fragile. Also, since the bulb is a straight firing led vs. a 360 bulb, very little light came back towards the lens without putting a small reflector dome of tinfoil behind and around the led....with that is works just great.

Soooo pleased with the results....and so is the littlelady.....really impressive as a compliment to the Platinum LED factory interiorlighting....thanks to Jon and especially Eco-Beast for the shared directions and pictures.....

Hi everyone i want to let you know that the resistors for the turn indicators included are not enough. You need a 3 ohm load so you need a total of 4 6ohm resistors. 2 must be wired in parallel to achieve a 3ohm load.

Dr. B, glad you posted this -- thought I was stupid or something. With the two resistors that came with my order, I still had the "rapid flash." I had to order two more (actually I ordered 4) resistors from Superbright LEDs in order to get the turn signals to flash at a normal rate. I spliced a resistor to each taillight; now they work great. Not "ripping" on Jon To here, but the resistor package from Superbright is a better setup IMO. The resistor wire insulation seems to be more heat resistant and the splice connectors are easier to use plus they come with dielectric gel already applied.

I ordered the supreme kit will all the upgrades the other day. Thanks to this write up, I got all of the interior lights installed in under 45 minutes. Still daylight, but it looks like they will look incredible.

I would just second the fact that the bulbs in the vanity mirrors feel like they are impossible to get out. After going with the shatter glass all over the inside of the truck approach with the first one, I was bit more gentle the second time around and after working it, the bulb finally popped out.

I agree and idk about you but to me the vanity mirror bulb was the most nerve-racking simply because I thought if I broke the bulbs id NEVER get it out lol Luckily thats not the case!!

When it shattered, the base of the bulb was stuck in there. I had to yank it out with the needle nose pliers. Thankfully there was something to grab on to.

Now I get to go vacuum....

Default Had some difficulty getting the front seat map lights apart

I was being careful and prying gently. The back end of the clear plastic lens popped off with no trouble but when the front half popped free, it rained plastic parts on me....

The lens seemed to snap back into place like normal, so...with any luck it won't rattle...

LOL......I took the coward's way out and used a cutter to remove the little black 1/2 surround flap (that serves no real purpose) so I could get a good grip on the slippery little thing. Then I placed some vacuum tube on the tips of my longnose pliars and gently lifted it out, with a wiggle motion.....
