My 97 F150 has Lightning headlight housings and 5000k HID's. I have a 6" lift so I aligned the headlights to where they just touch the bottom of a normal cars rear window. They light up the road great and I never get high-beamed.

My buddy got pulled over with 8000k HID's which were real blue. My 5000k's are pure white so they don't attract attention. I had 6000k's and they had the purplish tint (very slight). The lower the number on the kelvin scale the more visable light you put out so that is why I went with the 5000k's. I can light up the darkest roads

well I would think that a Acura TL w/ projectors..it would be DOT approved..so if you just take the headlight and put it in another car, wouldnt that be legal? Ive been told it is legal.

no it is still not legal, you probably will never get pulled over if you do a retrofit but it's still illegal because even though it is a projector lense it its cut out of its housing and put into a housing made for a different size bulb so it is not dot approved. each housing has a certain bulb that goes with it and if our H13 housing doesn't have an H13 bulb in it then it is not legal, or DOT approved.

my hids tht i put in are 10k and their pretty blue with a hint of purple but the other night i drove past a couple cops so im good for right now but i dont think cops really care tht much about it because i dont think cops really look to pull you over for tht because a good number of the people on the road have hids just like a lot of people of illegal tint on their front windows so i think the cops are just over it i guess or just dont care anymore
