HID vs LED Fog light upgrade.
#11
The JDM ASTAR Extremely Bright Max 50W High Power H10 from what I've saw are on par with Diode Dynamics XP80 LED Fog lights from what I saw and read, for half the cost. Of course these only offer a cosmetic gain. To get more functionality, you need to upgrade to a $120+ LED with high lumens.
Would like to hear for individuals that have either products.

Anybody know what the Morimotos put out for lumens?

You won't get flashed using any of the LED products we sell. From the XHP bulbs to the Morimoto fogs. It's about personal preference. The Morimotos are $75 more then the XHP and 1/3 - 1/4 the lumen output... but they have that sleeker/darker look some folks like.
Personally I'd rather put in the XHP for my $$ because I can use my existing housing and I get a lot more light output.

I wouldn't worry about the brightness of the fogs as much as the headlights. I may be wrong but fogs aren't meant to be used as main source of light output. If the lows and highs are as bright as people say, the Morimotos should be just fine. They looks fine from the pictures I have seen anyways.

Fogs are designed to "cut through fog" thus the name... now adays however it's more of an aesthetic thing though. Stock fogs don't do a whole lot at all. I put the 3000 lumen (half what I used to have) in because I wanted something that "functions" then was for "looks"
The yellow look a bit, odd to be honest... but I can't wait till it snows out and I can see everything in front of me. THAT will be awesome.
The yellows also cut through bad weather (like rain/FOG) so other drivers can see you easier.

Not going to argue with you there Rewted... The XP80 from Diode are expensive and on par with some other bulbs as you said. I used to sell a less expensive bulb which was great for everybody, but switched to DD because honestly i get better customer support from them. They take care of me as a dealer and take care of my customers. To me that customer service is worth the extra $$ but yeah I agree with you not a whole lot difference when it comes to the light output itself.
