HID ballasts: mounting and hot to touch?
I am doing some final bench testing of my HID retrofits that I've been building and have two quick questions that I'm hoping some of the experienced retrofitters could maybe chime in on:
1. Where do y'all mount the ballasts? Pics?
2. It is normal for the ballasts and projectors/shrouds to get hot to the touch? I've been bench testing them in my apartment and after 10 minutes or so the ballast and shrouds get almost too warm to touch. I'm running Mini H1 with 35W ballasts from TRS.
Thanks!

I'm by no means an experienced retrofitter! But, I went through the same build using Mini H1s earlier this month... Everything turned out great -- you're going to love your lights.
To answer your questions...
1. I was torn on where and how I wanted to mount the ballasts. In the end, I decided not to use self tapping screws and drill holes. The easiest and cleanest location that I settled upon was the horizontal surfaces of the frame support on each side -- i.e., the ~3"w X 12"l flat metal section that you'll see once the headlights are removed. Sorry I don't have pics... In any event, I used 3M double-sided tape to stick the ballasts on, and then proceeded to wrap the ballast and frame support with a few wraparounds of wide rubber outdoor electrical tape. The mounts are solid and protected.
2. The ballasts will get pretty warm, and the projectors will get HOT! Normal.
