Your $2 relay does not do that!
What I am doing is in no way different that what that box does - that box is simply two relays daisy chained together and prettied up in a project box.

My truck is running a HID retrofit so I have no need for the second relay function, but I can do up a diagram showing exactly how their box works, and how you could accomplish the EXACT same thing with a couple relays. Albeit, the use of factory plugs is nice - but is not worth the extra expense for me.

And burn up the system? Have you even done much for custom 12v installs? Ford is all gravy, they DO NOT use any advanced computer controlled DRL monitoring, or resistance based Bulb-Out systems like the Dodge's do. Any post '02 Ram is a NIGHTMARE to do headlights/relay work on thanks to their horrid computer controlled systems.

Fords on the other hand, you need no resistors or interface kits. Couldn't be easier. Our shop was almost nothing but HID installs this week, and I did half a dozen of our trucks, all with a H13 retrofit kit, with HID Fogs tied to the high beams. You couldn't ask for an easier truck to work on.

Forgot about this thread but to answer your question, yes I have done custom 12V work, but it has been on my 05 Ram and similiar Dodge trucks for my friends. Yes the computer system on those trucks are a PITA to deal with. This is my First F150 and I will admit I have not done much homework on them, didnt realize they are not a nightmare like the Dodges, however I liked the Brite Box product so I just ordered one because I do not like cutting into the OEM harness, so the plug and play is very nice (for me). Dealers these days seem to blame any little thing on something you added or did to the truck. (at least that has been my experience).

You may find this product (from same company) of interest if you work on alot of Dodges: http://www.innovadd.com/cf2.intro.pdf

I know exactly what you are taking about with the relay, I have done the same setup on my older trucks I had, but like I said I like the plug and play of this product better for late model vehicles.

For those intersted I will get some pics in the next couple days of my install of the Brite Box, maybe a video as well.

Wow, I just looked this thing up. For that price, I'll opt for the relays and a little of my own labor!

You can run both filaments at the same time. Try pulling your headlight/blinker stick to you with your high beams on. They will turn you low beams on too. I dont know about the fogs though, have driven older models that allowed fogs to be on with brights, but idk if they had adjustments made to allow that.

It's not possible to have our hi and low beams on at the same time, they are a single bulb hi/low setup. The have the bulbs listed correctly H13 hi/low and 9140 fogs. And the website looks incredibly cheap, like it was designed in the 90's.

I'll be convinced that this works when someone posts a write-up WITH PICS.

Once that's done, I'm very interested though.

head lights have seperate hot wires for high and low beams. fog lights can be added with wireless kit to turn them on and off seperate of high and low beams. Pick up a wireless kit on ebay for less than $20 and install it with a couple of fog/driving lights. I have Warn with my Generation II Warn Winch head light guards system. Running with brights is nice on misty nights with deer on the prowl/dew falling. Protect your front end from deer and cows first. When you see what happens to the front of a PU when it hits a deer square you'll convince yourself.

Install foglights, wire to hot lead from battery, use remote wireless control system and presto, fog lights work either on low or high beam or even with parking lights. It's your call. Shut them off with the wireless fob when you wish, or leave them on and just dim for passerbys. Great for seeing deer way out there or driving in the gloomy mist. And you don't have to run wires and switches thru the firewall into your dash. Use Velcro to mount your fob. I mount mine on the instrument bezel away from stuff. It is removable if I wish it. Fob has red led to tell if lights are activated. You can get a wireless for $20 on e bay.
