Can't see when backing up at night
My 2003 has dark windows, dark tinted side mirrors and dark tail lens coating. When I back up at night the back up lights are useless. The truck has a headache rack with two lamps up top. I bo't it this way and don't use them. Any ideas on how I can improve my backup lighting. Years ago I installed an old tractor headlight on my ford bumper as there was enough room to lower the tailgate without interference. That light worked very well. The lens was tough as I drove many miles of gravel with no breakage. I just checked. The back up light are not coated, just standard backup lights.

I'll wait for a warmer day and see if the lights up top even clear the tailgate. I may go with small lights on the bumper and wire them into the backup lights. With so much snow the only place I'm backing up at night is in my yard. -24 isn't a good temp to be monkeying with lights.

LMAO.. Just run the kids over, they'll think thats real cool ! But seriously, You have plenty of spots under your bumper to mount a small set of fog lights.. and tap into your reverse wire. Pep boys, walmart, auto zone.. should be able to find something for 20-30 bucks, unless you wanna get into LED lights then you're at 75.00 Per light. Or get Jon_to from the site to get HID lights for you and blind everybody behind u .

You guys are just full of the funnies!! Humor first thing in the morning puts a great start on the day. I checked out the under bumper LEDs but they are really designed for hooking up a trailer at night. My driveway encircles a hydro pole and it's guy wire. That's what I don't want to back into. I have to back and turn before I can head out forward. Truck has to be close to the house for plugging in.
