Blacked out my tail lights
#12
I bought the recon smoke third brake light because my stock one was leaking! And I just took my tailgate off and masked off the rear emblem, but if u do take it off, it's only held on by three alignment pins and adhesive

I understand you're entitled to an opinion... But please don't jump to conclusions when u haven't even seen it! The paint is specifically made for blacking out taillights, it's very transparent and doesn't block any light unless ur stupid and put a ton of coats on! And I'm upgrading to much brighter taillights than stock, so it will actually be brighter than it originally was

Not to menchin..... completely legal! They sell blacked out lights in the markets....So any rear enders would be the ones at fault like always! You rear end someone and you think dark tail lights would save them? How about following to close, speeding, and a few other good faults they would have imposed on them for rear ending someone. Rear enders are always the ones at fault not the person in front.

Let's start off getting your facts straight. Just because something is sold and advertised a certain way does NOT mean it's legal. It's not made "for blacking out tail lights," that's the way it's advertised. It's made to simply be transparent paint.
Any sort of modification to the tail lights is illegal, especially lessening the output. So you'll have brighter bulbs? Great. Well when someone hits your truck because they could no longer see the reflectors that you blacked out then maybe that will make you think again.

The "blacked out lights in the markets" are required to be DOT approved. Blacking out stock tail lights is complete negligence. Nothing should be done (my opinion and by law) to reduce the visibility.
