I've never used brake fluid for chrome because the yellow can Easy-off does the job really well. I have removed paint from model car bodies using brake fluid and it works, albeit messy and takes many hours. It's fine on a model car because it's not sealed behind a lens. I would be worried about the brake fluid causing further issues down the road as it may impregnate into the plastic and cause fogging. This is just my opinion and there may be no truth to that, but I would rather be safe than sorry!

Hey Bil, first off, you do some amazing work man. I'm thinking of having you do a retrofit for me with my 2011-style headlight, with the square projector and shroud. I don't think ill do any halos or angel eyes, just going for an OEM, clean but upgraded look and tinted orange lenses. I haven't found any pictures of the square projector except for the one you posted of the F250 bucket. Do you have any pics of the square projector and shroud for the 2011-style headlight?

Not quite bulimic quality but here is an example of mine. Mini d2s square 3.0 with square Gatling gun shrouds. Hope it helps.

Thanxs PlatinumCarioca. I have one pair of F150 headlights that I used the D2S 3.0 square projector. The reflector bucket is chrome and the Gatling square shroud was painted OEM Sterling Grey Metallic. The new Apollo square shroud is larger and will fill the reflector bucket up even more. Waiting to build this combo for someone still.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

P.S. I'm booking into October....just in time before the days get much shorter.

Bil,

Which combo are you building for me? I could not remember which square shroud we were incorporating.

@FosterChild - thanks for the pic, that square projector looks awesome!

Bil, thanks for the pic, the square projector is exactly what I want, I think it fills out the bucket so much nicer for our year model headlight design. I also think the Apollo shroud would look great, anything to beef up the presence of that projector in the bucket. I can't wait to see how MAH's turns out! I can call you to discuss in more detail, but with my truck being tri-white, would you recommend (from a design standpoint) painting any part of the headlight assembly to match? Not sure I'd want the whole bucket painted white... maybe just the shroud?

Seeing you have a Platinum, I would go with the FX heads to match your wheels, leave the reflector buckets chrome and paint the shrouds OEM tri-white. Would look great IMHO.
