Default Bambi Mod... I swear I'm not asking how to do it!

First I'll introduce myself/truck I just got a 2005 scab fx4. The truck is black with the two tone rocker panels and bumper.

Because it is a new truck to me I have to customize it! I have read many of the threads about how to do the bambi mod... fairly simple. My question is what is the reason this is not done by the factory. Will I need to replace the alternator and battery for the additional current now required? Will I go through bulbs much faster? It just seems like this could be done cheaper by the factory with out the override on high beams.
Does anyone know if the stock alternator is over engineered for additional features and for what type of load?

Thanks for any info,

Jeff

Well first off welcome to the site. As for your question it is illegal in most states
To run fogs and highs so hence the need for this mod.

To add to sin:
No, alternator and battery are fine for the bambi mod, about 15 more driving lights and a blender(if needed). The alternator should be 180 amp atleast from the factory. I haven't had a reason to amp check a fog light but I'm guessing they run about 4-5 amps, high beams about 8-10 amps. So you are looking at about 15 amps, which is what a lot of HVAC(heating-ventalation-a/c) systems run at. You will only go through bulbs faster because you are using them more. It dose not cause any more wear than normal, it's just they are on whenever the switch is on.

And it is illegal in all 50 states as far as I'm aware, so don't blind a cop with your highbeams or he might pull you over because your fog ligths or on(dumb law)

Your charging system will be fine..the other night I was running all of my lights: HIDS,fogs, PIAA's and my stereo (before I smashed the sub ) and I didn't have any problems.
