I do have a full listing of snowmobiles, i did not upload them to the site because I don't know which of all the snowmobiles are battery powered or pull start. If i'm thinking correctly, the pull start snowmobiles do not keep a constant 12v to the headlights. When at full throttle, they will push the full voltage to the headlights, but when at low RPMs, voltage drops and the headlights dim. HID's MUST have a constant 12v to fire and stay powered - they can't dim. Below 12v will cause the HID's to flash and trip the safety circuit within the ballast. Repeatedly tripping the safety circuit has the potential to damage the ballasts and bulbs.

ok, thanks. i will check and see about the voltage output with my snowmobile, i know ive seen the topic come up on the sled forum im on. i believe the output on mine is a constant 12V because there are systems on the engine that use it, but i will find out for sure and get back to you. thanks for the response

Just wanted to know who has had this mod done? can we see pictures of it? How much did it cost? Where did you order them from? How many "K" are they? Where did you mount the ballasts? How long have you had them? and what is your overall satisfaction (pros/cons).
I personally installed a 6K kit last week with BiXenon for both high and low beams and the fog lights. Had to install 4 ballasts (not easy, cheap mounting brackets). Paid $250. Ordered them from www.hidxenonheadlights.com. Overall satisfaction is probably a 7 out of 10 because the equipment was obviously from china. Mounting hardware was garbage. Couldnt' even read the instructions due to a bad print. Instructions online were garbage due to outdated information (no longer need to run wires to battery terminals) and the fog lights had to be twisted in with vice grips. However, the look kicks ***, I get 2800 lumens from 6K, 1100 lumens from the old hallogen bulbs...

I'm not sure if its your camera or not, but your pictures look MUCH bluer than 6000K. 6000K should be pretty white with the slightest hint of a blue hue.
$250 is a pretty high for low quality kits with only 1 year warranties (I've never seen these particular kits in person, but you described them as obviously made in china, which i assume you attribute to being poorly constructed). I couldn't find any actual photos of the products on their website to see if i recognized the ballasts or not.

I'm not sure if its your camera or not, but your pictures look MUCH bluer than 6000K. 6000K should be pretty white with the slightest hint of a blue hue.

Ya, I think it is my camera. They have a slight blue tint to them but not alot. The pics on their website are on the main page in the tri-ad auto scroll at the top. They did not send me the same kit. However. I have been doing some research today only to find out that: 1. Most, if not all, are made in Hong Kong, Japan or China. Quality is gonna be crappy for these aftermarket kits no matter where you buy them. 2. Most of them offer a one year warranty except one for 3 years

I hate to break this to everyone...these kits are ALL made in china. Some are just better than others.
On another note..DDM tunings new "raptor"kits, are garbage.

I don't agree that quality will be 'crappy' regardless where you buy them from - there are definitely quality kits available that come from all over the world. Quality does not depend on the country of origin, but depends rather on the specific manufacturer. And there are warranties out there longer than 3 years available. As far as the price goes, I was referring to 'for what you got' it seemed a little high. ~$200ish is about the going rate for 2 kits shipped (1 bixenon, one single beam).
The problem I see is that the company you bought from is so ambiguous about their products, that even the kits you ordered don't match the only photo of a kit they had on their website. Couple that with a short warranty, no proof of a solid customer base, and a generic copy/paste website - and it made me conclude their prices are too high. Seems like they are out to make a buck, and want to do it in the cheapest, easiest, and most generic way possible. People have the ability to get the same experience by hopping on eBay and getting the same 2 kits for $80-$100 shipped.

Camera's do have the tendency to highlight blue wavelengths - i assumed that was the culprit
I don't agree that quality will be 'crappy' regardless where you buy them from - there are definitely quality kits available that come from all over the world. Quality does not depend on the country of origin, but depends rather on the specific manufacturer. And there are warranties out there longer than 3 years available. As far as the price goes, I was referring to 'for what you got' it seemed a little high. ~$200ish is about the going rate for 2 kits shipped (1 bixenon, one single beam).

True! Very true and good information! Even though I am happy for now, I hope these bulbs dont give me any trouble in the future. Word to the wise: Might be a good Idea for everyone to keep their original bulbs (I did) incase something goes wrong and a warranty/shipping situation has to happen so you dont skip a beat driving at night and/or have to go buy more hallogens while you wait for a return. Very good tip Greg. All electronics have a certain failure rate - its just how the world works. Great idea to keep a backup at all times in the glovebox or console!
