I'm amazed at how people talk about other's trucks! There's a much better way of telling him what could be wrong besides saying, "yours suck." Don't be a dick, just tell him what's wrong in a better way or don't comment at all.

Except, I don't deny it. I KNOW they suck. Hate the fact that I had them also. I don't see it as being a dick at all. And as I stated... that WAS my truck; EFD just didn't like me that much from past experiences.

I think the issue here is that when people say "the lights are garbage" or "they suck" they want to know why they're garbage or suck. Everyone has different experiences with HID lighting.
Many of us know from experience that putting HID/Xenon light bulbs in a reflector housing causes excessive light scattering and the beam isn't focused. But those without the experience simply don't know. Or some will say it blinds oncoming drivers. The argument can also be made that light from a projector housing that has factory HID's are blinding as well (is to me as I do a TON of dark road driving, on and off highway).
I chose an aftermarket HID assembly, as my experience with HID's in a factory housing didn't work out for my needs. I wanted the HID light to pick up the paint pigment in the highway stripes, and see signs in the distance in foul weather. I run my halogens with standard bulbs, and have a multi-colored (white and amber) LED light bar for foul weather where I won't be traveling highway speeds.
Just my two cents worth.

I did a lot of reading/research before doing my retrofit. It was fun to do but lots of little stuff you have to figure out on your own as you go.
Hello, brand new member, picking up a used '13 SuperCrew. Here's my dilemma:

I want these:
http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&item=151980210399&cat egory=33710&pm=1&ds=0&t=1457144955941

I read here that these are crap. I also read here that it's much more than simply buying something like this and doing the retrofit. I'm simply having a tough time understanding why that's not a legit way to go. Buy the housing and the sweet DTRL tube then replace the guts with what you guys say is tried and true. I just want that housing and it already has a projector lens built in so it's already much better suited for a retrofit than the stock non-HIDs, no?

So I just installed a set of OEM HID headlights on my truck, once I turned them on, I noticed a fingerprint on one of the lights. I'm wondering if I will need to actually take apart the light to clean it off, or if I can just take out the bulb and wipe off the smudge?

It's quality issues. The lens itself could get damage from the extra heat. The new parts will hold up, but the rest of the housing is uncertain.

In that case... yes. I'm not too familiar with how the brackets are in these housings, but you'd be lucky if they were the same. A simple EVOX-R swap, and it'll bolt right in.

Not sure how much you can reach in there, but access will be a pinch if you open the housing. If you plan on doing that, get an EVOX-R projector. Bolts onto the factory brackets, and it's a huge improvement over factory.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to open them. I may look into doing the EVOX-R upgrade at some point, but most likely not right now. Is there some access if I remove the bulb from the back? Maybe just enough to reach a microfiber cloth?

That's what I'm not sure about. The hole should be a decent size, but you're going to need some sort of extension to reach the back of the lens.

So I've been looking around for headlights I want to retro fit, and I just found these
Amazon.com: Ford F150 Clear *Exclusive* Halo Projector SMD DRL LED Headlights Driver + Passenger Side Pair: Automotive Amazon.com: Ford F150 Clear *Exclusive* Halo Projector SMD DRL LED Headlights Driver + Passenger Side Pair: Automotive

I think these are the coolest looking housings I've seen. Anybody buy these before? Any thoughts ideas on retrofitting this? Love the price of these cause if I mess up I'm not out too much.

Gimmi your thoughts!
