Fast forward to three months ago, I decided to try again. I went to The Retrofit Source and sent them a message with my issues. They assured me this would work.

This harness has the same relay that the individual was selling, but it was made a little different. Seemed like it was more weather tight.

I installed the lights and the new harness, and I have had no problems so far!

So, I would highly recommend this product from TRS if you would like to install OEM HIDs on a 2009-2014 truck. And you don't have to wait for months for the harness.
I have been following this thread for sometime since I have considered making the mod but may not considering that I will be trading for a 2016 F150 this fall.

The above being said, there are a lot of HID suppliers listed in this thread. I am sure that users here have had success with a number of different ones but if anyone was to take the time to scan all the replies here I think you would find that the best results have been achieved with TRS. We all want the best bang for our buck but when you buy crap the first time around and then have to buy the good stuff later or live with a second rate setup you are not saving anything.

Default I agree

with waiting for the polished solution, but at the time that the HIDs came out TRS didn't have a product to support it. So some enterprising folks stepped in to fill the void. Some of the products were good, some were junk.

Now that TRS has something that works plug and play, I can breathe a sigh of relief.

Yeah agreed.. big mistake buying HIDs off eBay. They're cheap, but you really do get what you pay for. Much better to spend a few bucks more for a quality kit

I've flipped through a lot of this thread and still am a bit puzzled. New to the game

I have a 2007 SCAB XLT that has some pretty dim stock lights. I really like the look of the LED halo's on the TRS site. Is this all I need to have new lights that wont give me grief?

The HID system: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/hid...-55%2CH13BX-6K

Projectors: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com...ors-48737.html

LED Halos (or strips, i guess): http://www.theretrofitsource.com/led...c-c-clamp.html

Would these fit in the factory headlight housings that are on my F-150? Or does it make more sense to get something like this and then buy just the conversion kit from TRS?

Hey Bullwinkle, I'm not sure if those aftermarket LED halos are such a great idea. Looks like you need to split your headlight open to install them?? Anyway if you want to improve your light output I don't think they're going to help. The halos are more about looks than light output.

My buddy just installed a set of CREE LED bulbs in his 2010 F150. EXCELLENT light output. They're even brighter than HIDs and cost around $120 shipped. He bought them from MotorFiend.

Here's the link: LED Headlights

Well, yeah. That's what you have to do. Retrofitting is installing HID projectors to get better lighting. Not easy or cheap, but it's the right way to do it, and the results are amazing.

Don't pay any attention to that F_Man, only 4 posts and 2 of them are referring to his ebay buddy.

LED bulbs cannot match the output of a true Retrofit, the physics of a halogen reflector won't allow it.

If you want halos, you'll have to open the headlights. LEDs will turn on faster than the CCFL ones and work better in cold weather, but won't have the uniform look up close. It's personal preference.
