All things HID here!!!

OK, thanks, I was hoping it didn't involve having to remove the heads from my truck to access the bulbs. I looked at them before I installed the headlights so when the time came to replace the bulbs I'd be prepared but it didn't look like I could get them out & I didn't want to damage my new heads.

Its easy as crap to get em out.
3 bolts - 2 on top 1 on the side. Literally as easy as it could be.
On the 250's there's a hidden one between the housing and bumper, that gap isn't big enough to get a 10mm socket thru, so its a reap PITA.
After the bolts are out - grab the side (by fender) and other side by radiator, yank and its out.
Don't think you have to be gentle, they're designed to be held there even without the bolts, so it takes a couple good jerks until you get it down.

On the back there is a round rubber part - it will have a tab you can pull to take that off. The connector should be visible outside of the cover - read below to remove the connector prior to removing the rubber cap.
(Assuming you have a retro with D2S bulbs)
Once that round cover is off (size of a small softball) the bulb is right there - you twist the plug on the back COUNTER clockwise to remove it.
There's a prong that holds the bulb down, you should see a spot to push that prong under a small "hook" that secures it in place, undo that prong and then the bulb is free.
There's two small tabs on the bulb that align with two slots on the connector - line those up, push the connector onto the bulb, twist 1/4 turn clockwise, it will "click" into place, and you're ALL DONE.
just don't touch the bulbs. You'll ruin them.
Also, you may want to replace the rubber caps. They do kinda dry rot over time and will crack wherever they fold or crease at all - it's at this point while changing bulbs you may as well change those 100mm caps too to ensure no water gets into the housing.

Thanks for the "step by step" instructions, hopefully I won't have to do this for quite a while but I just wanted to be prepared when the time came and I've never had HID's before.

No problem man.
I always encourage knowing how to fix problems before there is one.
Skip that whole "panic moment" at 10pm when its already dark and you don't have HLs.
Been there. Lol

I paid to have my own done, I built my own on 2 separate occasions, both ended in multiple issues and I had to break down and rebuild.
I don't trust myself to do a retro, I just know the components, been working with them for a long time, I even retail them at my shop, but I would suggest one of the veteran retrofitters here - I am not anywhere near as skilled as they are.

I know it won't be cheap, but I'm not going to spend $1,000 to have someone open a set of headlights and put in projectors I bought.

You can see if FX or Bilinvic would do it or if any of the listed retrofitters would do it and what the cost would be. Im sure they would be happy to.
I've spoken with a lot of them and theyre very willing to work with you - as the owner. If you have components, they'll do it - no issues.
It would be worth asking them what they would charge - and the gents on here that specialize in f150 housings, I'd bet they'd be more than happy to lend a hand to help out, and you have the assurance that they work with these housings all the time - they have it down.
I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to spend a grand, we just gotta see who is willing/capable of doing it. I'm sure they'll chime in.
