I'm about to place an order for 55W HIDs for my off road lights. I'm excited as hell, and I hope they do as good as I think they will!

I bought an HID kit and went to install it only to realize that it did not come with a mounting bracket for the ballasts. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to secure the ballasts to the frame? The only thing I can think of are zip ties but I don't know that I would trust them.

I've always used some double sided exterior tape. The heavy duty kind. Never had any problems as long as there's somewhere to stick em lol

And that is strong enough to withstand some off-road bumps and mud?

That's how I have them mounted on my Honda Foreman. I went to lowes and got the strongest exterior type they had. Just make sure where you stick them is cleaned real good.

Double-sided tape is incredibly strong, and can easily hold the ballasts in place on a flat surface. Just to give you some perspective, try to pry off the F-150 emblems that are on the front fenders. Those are held on by regular double-sided tape only. You won't be able to get them off with your hands.

Before my wreck, my ballasts were mounted to the frame under the hood with double-sided tape. They were like that for two years, and never once lost bonding strength. When I had to take them off after the wreck, I had to use a flat head screwdriver to pry them off, and it wasn't easy.
