Another reason i got my 130w KC offroad lights on the bullbar...stupid riced-out cars with the blue lights pointed straight up because they think thats how you can "brighten" them and see farther out.

I had the 6000k pnp hids on my truck for a couple months but going through a few ballasts and the glare coming out the sides of the lights changed my opinion. They def are brighter than stock lights but for me they couldnt hold up to the offroad abuse. The ballasts kept getting wet and would flicker no matter how many different places i put them or how much E.tape i put on them.

i dont care so much if people have them as long as they arent pointed incorrectly. I also think the color ones (blue/red/purple/green) should be illegal. Anything over 8k is pointless...not great for visible light and are a distraction for others. i can understand the 6k and 4500k ones. But, like i said, when im on a road with just me and a car with a f*d up HID install job, i just flick the switch. Everyone has their opinions on this topic so im not surprised to see multiple threads with multiple arguments on this. To each his own. I just get pissed if someones lights affect me.

Quit bashing all us guys who are doing what they can afford to our trucks

Not hating for what you can or cannot afford, its the fact that you should have mindfulness to other motorists and their safety. Glaring the hell out of other people is not safe, and is illegal. So you can't afford projectors now, then leave the lights factory until you can afford to safely implement high intensity lighting. You're not the only one who works hard for their money, we all do. There is no excuse for endangering others.

If you wanted to spend $100 total and probably have the same output as the factory made, HID built in lights, listen to me now haha

Get a set of off road lights (Hella 500s are nice), make sure they're not too expensive though. The 500s are like $55ish for the pair. Then get a 55w HID kit and put the HIDs in the Hellas. Cheaper, and for the same output. I've seen the HID off road lights, they're just like regular halogens, but they have the HID bulb and ballast built into them. Also meaning that if the ballast or light bulb goes dead for any reason, I think you need a whole new light

*Hella 500 used as an example.

Yea I have some 700ff's behind the grill and was thinking about doing that myself, but if u add it all up, I'm not saving much if anything plus adding a lot of extra work for myself, it takes a lot to switch them to hid and thats y I don't want to I'd rather just pay the extra 20-40 bucks for nice light then just trying to ghetto rig some, but thanks for the info if u do know more let me know!

Total newb question here, i really dont care about the cool look of the HID lights, i just want extra performance as in visibility when driving, is there a better way to get that other than HID lights, or are they the way to go? (Im sure this has been answered but im not reading 101 pages of answers, sorry in advance)

Sylvania Silverstar bulbs will be the best halogen upgrade you can make. Or you can spend some money for some 100 watt off road lights(to use with your high beams)

I've got some wally world off road lights on my bumper right now, when I get the 55w HID for them in a week or two, I'll put up a how to and some light comparisons.

And they will be strictly back road, no one in sight lights either. I could not in good conscious run those with people looking into them

I've made the comparison between the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras and the PIAA Xtreme White Plus. Honestly, the light output is nearly the same between the two, but there is one big difference between them. I've used SS Ultras many times, and they lose luster fast, eventually going out entirely. The PIAA lights are crazy expensive, but they last a good deal longer than SS Ultras. These days, I'd recommend the PIAA bulbs over the Silverstars.

Also, if you'd rather a quality halogen bulb, go with the Philips Xtreme Power. They are only slightly better than the stock bulb, but they are of superior quality to any halogen bulb out there.
