Another update:

I accomplished nothing yesterday, but got back at it today. I made my cuts for fitting the projectors. It wasn't too bad, but omg the dust! What a mess! Anyway, I started with a ~3.5" hole centered around the original bulb hole. I then put the projector in this hole to determine how far to cut for the solenoid. I got the projector to sit all the way down in the reflector, but it's still fairly snug. The next step will be to aim and secure the projectors, but I don't have my harness yet. I might rig something up with a computer power supply I have laying around.

Anyway, here are a couple more pictures of my progress:

Mock up of how the light will look with the shroud in place.

That's as far as I am for now. I'm hoping to have the rest of it finished by the weekend, but I may just wait till I get my harness and butyl in.

Ok, so now I feel dumb...

Just called TRS to get a status on the rest of my order and the guy said it had been delivered. Went to my carport and there it was, my harness and retro rubber. Looks like this retrofit will definitely be done this week.

Looking good. Are you painting the reflector bowl or leaving it chrome?

I'm leaving it all chrome. I like the subtle look.

I just buy a package of each. Use the JB weld in a few spots to hold it in while setting the rotation. After you're happy with it, apply the steelstik to set it in place.

Alright, I had it backwards. I was going to use the steelstik to injury hold it, then the jb to lock it in. I bought one package of each, so I should have plenty.

I am going to use the steel stick to mount the projectors and then regular jb weld to lock it in. The reason being, I can see the situation come up where not all 4 tabs of the FXR will be in contact with the reflector. Therefore there will be some need for buildup of material. Also given the fact our trucks don't have side to side adjustment I want to make sure the width is properly set.

I can see going the other route with a mini h1 setup since there is far less of the housing touching the reflector and what is touching is even.
