2013 tapping into backup lights

noob :)
read last night on the site here that you can pull the back off the 7 pin plug. Then insert a new wire with the factory wire into the plug

If you want to grab the reverse signal for the 7 pin receiver in the engine bay it's easily accessible as well (in my '11 5.0L.) It's the smaller connector with the single red wire running to it. It's located on the driver's side behind the coolant reservoir in my photo and I believe the factory wire is gray with a brown tracer (can check the wire color on the center pin of the 7 pin receiver to be sure.) It's useful to get it from the engine bay if you want to fire a relay for your lights and it's also a lot closer to the cab if you want to control the lights with a switch.

bodam... I tapped right into the back up light wire itself (in cased with the stop light housing). I put an inline fuse in each individual light. So the extra back up lights only came on when the transmission was in "reverse". Then, after a few incidences of tailgaters, I put them on a separate "off and on" switch. So, I could put them on at random... If you get my drift...
