2012 oem hid

Ohhh gotcha.

Yes, trucks fitted from the factory with HIDs do not need a harness as the factory wiring plugs directly into the headlight housing. That voltage fires the ballast. The halogen wiring in older trucks does not carry enough juice to ignite the OEM ballast thus the need for the harness and direct pull of the battery.

However, the OEM HID wiring doesn't carry enough juice in turn to fire aftermarket retrofits, so a specific harness (not the one TRS sells) is needed to connect the ballasts to the truck. This harness looks the same as the Halogen to HID harness, but the pigtails have been swapped to connect to the factory HID wiring, which is not the H13 pigtail.

Ok, thanks for clarifing! Odd it works for the oem ballasts and bulbs, but not others! Oh well...

Stock ballasts are 35 watts.

Bulbs can be fired by either 35 or 50 watts, as they are not wattage specific. 50w gives you a bunch more lumens, but also reduces the lifespan from what I'm told...by about 10%.
