I'm lazy and drive a lot. So use the cruise and T/H and set it at 60-65 mph all the time.

Got 12.5mpgUS with the old 4000# trailer with only 55 sqft frontal area.

Its now 10mpgUS with the new 7500# trailer with 66 sqft frontal area.

Like everyone says, if you drive it hard, you will pay. The power is there if you want it though.

Don't think there's any other gas engine out there that's more economical with the same power. Diesels though, especially RAM's new V6, have more low end torque and better mpg. But you'll pay for it initially, and it's in a truck with stupid low payloads.

There is a reason the eco junk has gotten it's reputation. It certainly isn't because it does any thing that it is claimed to do!

Guys around here have talked about putting on load range E tires is enough to drop the MPG on the eco boost by as much as 2 mpg.

The down side to boosted engines if you are in boost you are using a lot of fuel. The engine relies too much on boost to make it's power so any load either heavy wheels and tires or a trailer it will kill millage.

Right. And that is no different from loading a Na engine dropping mileage. Why is burning fuel via boost different and worse than running 4500 rpm to get the needed power.

I've towed with every combination from a 2007 5.3 silverado, a 2011-12 ecoboost and 5.0, and a 2010 silverado and guess what?

Heavier tires hurt mileage and they all got between 8-12 mpg towing.

The only time the ecoboost is noticably worse in mpg is towing in 100 degree weather uphill for a long time. It can heat soak and start dumping fuel to cool. But if it is that bad,the rest of the half tons on the road are struggling along in 3rd gear at 4500 rpm at 45 mph while the ecoboost cruises along at 2500 rpm at 60. Sure, its sucking gas. But it don't slow down.

I'll take that trade off.

well, 30 miles to empty...but the real question is, how much did you put in when you filled up?

You guys are killing me, you're getting better mileage towing than old school got empty and empty, you get numbers no one would have believed. My 77 F250 with 460 and 4bbl, 3 speed auto C6, got 7 mpg loaded, and 7 mpg empty. You're always going to get less mileage towing,
