I've also heard with the dual cam it can be challenging to get set up just right...you need to get the spring bars centered over the cams when the vehicle is perfectly straight ahead.

Here's a pic of the my equalizer hitch.

I've heard about the hook up issue with the new Centerline having to be pretty much perfectly straight behind the truck. The equalizer seems to also be popular.

I too use an Equalizer 1000/10000 setup. It is easy to set up and works as advertised. This or the Reese dual cam are very popular and will likely be much better than what the local dealer is intending on selling you. I live in Ottawa like you and would strongly suggest you buy your WDH in the US as you will likely save alot. I bought mine here www.adventurerv.net and picked it up at the border.

I have a Hensley Arrow, and love it. I tow a TT that has a dry weight of 7250 lbs, and I know it's back there but it's manageable. I am towing with a 2004 Screw, 3.73, Max tow pkg. I am installing an air lift helper kit this week to help plane the truck out a little (roughly 2".) I am definitely near the top of my towing capacity, but she still trucks along.

"Best" means relatively expensive. Hensley Arrow, ProPride 3P, and Pullrite all make excellent WD hitches, and they all cost over $2000.

Back off to "very good" and you have my Reese Strait-Line dual cam.

I've never researched the less-expensive WD hitches.

My TV is a 2012 EcoScrew 5.5 box, with MaxTow (3.73's) so I should have tons of truck to pull it with.
As others have noted, your pickup does not have the HD Payload pkg, so you will run out of payload capacity (GVWR) long before you run out of pulling power. Your GVW is probably 7,600 or 7,700 pounds. A Skyline Nomad Joey Select model 269 TT is 29'9"long tip to tail (about 27' inside length) and has a GVWR of 7750 pounds and a wet and loaded hitch weight of about 1150 pounds. 7700 GVWR minus 1150 hitch weight = 6550 max weight for the wet and loaded F-150 without being overloaded. That should be achievable, but you certainly cannot throw everything you have into the truck without being overloaded. If you had the HD payload pkg with 500 pounds more GVWR, then you wouldn't need to be concerned with what you haul in the truck while towing.

You have the same truck as me except i have the 6.5' bed. You actually have 70lbs more payload then i do. I tow an Outback 292BH that is 33' long, 7500lbs loaded and I am within all my trucks ratings but i am close to my trucks GVWR of 7700lbs. My truck weighed in at 7540lbs hooked to the trailer with my family of four in the truck(myself,wife,7yr old son, 4yr old daughter). I had the kids bikes, fishing gear and my trusty little Weber Q grill in the bed of the truck. So it can be done you just need to watch what you load in the truck.
I also use the Equal-i-zer with 4 way sway control and love it!! .

Yes, you should be good at 500 to 700 lbs. It IS surprising how quickly the payload gets used up.

Great info thanks. I'll have to start looking into some pricing for that hitch.

I have a 30' TT and I use the Equal-i-zer e2 Sway control hitch it is a little cheaper then the The Original Equal-i-zer but it came with my trailer so till I need something more I am staying with it.
