You should get a slightly better ride with a properly-adjusted WDH. Even with your inexpensive WDH. (The better WDHs have better sway control, but probably not much better weight distribution if properly adjusted.)


You want the spring bars tight, but not too tight. Here's the quick check.


Measure the distance from the FRONT wheel well to the ground without the trailer tied on.


Then tie on the trailer, adjust the spring bars to where you think they should be, then measure again. You want the distance from the front wheelwell to the ground to be very close to the same distance, with or without the trailer.


If the distance is more, then tighten the spring bars another notch, then measure again.


If the distance is less, then you have the spring bars too tight, so back off a notch and measure again. If you cannot achieve perfection, then slightly too tight is better than not quite tight enough.
