Just use a small bungee cord to hold them up. Stops them from dragging but doesn't interfere with cornering or in the situation where they need to do their job.

Reese recommends taking them off while backing up at sharp turns. I grenaded my Hitch head from improper dealer install and a sharp turn, while backing. It would had been fine if I took off the bars prior to backing. I take the bars off because it does get close to contacting and I don't want a repeat even with a proper install now. If you have a ball with a longer shank, the bar WILL HIT IT, on a sharp turn while backing in.

Got rid of the weak chain that came with the trailers. I use my own with quick links to get the right length. Remember to use chain, quick links, and the bolt to connect the chains at the tongue, with a grade strong enough to support the trailer. Also chains should be crossed so that the tongue rests on them, instead of going through them, should it come off of the ball.

I have a Reese WDH. Bars, chains, etc...with slider sway control. I've never had to disconnect the setup, and the slider can be loosened way up... so as not to cause any drama. One time my trailer cord got pinched real bad when I was backing in at a hard 90° angle...had a little too much slack on the cord. You tow a lot....you learn what works and what you could do better next pull! Good times with the Boost though.
