The Macho King
I pulled a 2001 Mustang Bullitt from Arkansas to Nevada behind a Budget truck with a 4.7 Vortec...halfway through I contemplated pulling the truck with the Mustang because that thing was a dog!

Does anyone else see a problem with the trailer supposedly weighing 2215#? Pulled a 22' tilt deck equipment trailer with the diamondplate deck and rated at 18,000lbs capacity. Ran over the scales and it weighted only 2,500lbs

On more meds than ymeski
I use a BigTex 18' car hauler for round bales and it is 2000# empty. The 20' is about 2200# empty. I can see the U-Haul being 2215#.

I think (don't know for sure) that u-haul had two types of car trailers. The one I rented was a lot heavier than I would expect a car trailer. Unfortunately, it also had a lot of tongue weight because the car had to be all the way forward to strap it down. So, 2215 is probably correct.
If you're renting this trailer, I would see if you can check it out first... maybe even put the car on it. A long drive is miserable with a trailer combo that's not set up right.
But I thought they had a lighter aluminum version.

Couple of questions or things to think about;
1. Are you renting a Uhaul truck to transport any home goods?
2. If not were you planning to put any home goods in your f150 and tow the trailer?
3. I beleive the Platinums tend to have the lowest payload rating on the F150s, may want to check the sticker on the door.
4. If your hauling the family, any luggage and or home goods and the car on the F150 your asking a lot and are most likely looking at being over weight.
5. With the added weight of the car and trailer, and any home goods you can expect your mileage to be extremely poor. Have you looked at the cost of having the car shipped vs the savings from not renting a car uhaul car trailer oneway, and the fuel mileage savings? And most likely those odds and ends home goods you were going to pack in the truck could go in the car and be shipped taking even more load off the truck...... Just questions Good luck safe trip
FYI: Quick net search and the general cost are $1200 for Boston to California and $700 from NYC to Florida or Chicago to Houston. You may want to try getting an actual quote. The uhaul trailer from Topeka to NYC will run nearly $600 alone plus increase cost in gas and tolls.

I appreciate the input....No moving truck for us. Allied is moving everything for us. My wife's employer is paying for the entire move. So, we really aren't worried about mileage and or the cost as long as we come in under their budget. We will have a few things in the truck but not a whole lot. My wife is 30 weeks pregnant and she is not up to the 11 hour drive with our 3 year old in her car. So, we decided to pull it on a trailer behind my truck. (easier for everyone). I have used a car transporter several times when buying and selling cars. I made contact with them. While they can do the move for around $300 they said they have nobody that runs that corridor frequently so I may have to wait up to 10 days for my wifes car to arrive. So, we are pulling it.
