Default U-Haul Car Trailer Towing Help!!

We are in the process of moving across country and Im contemplating towing my wifes car (2010 Mercedes E350, 4matic, which weighs 3900 lbs) on a U-Haul Car transporting trailer. My concern is this....the U-Haul people say their trailer only has a setup for a 2" ball and that I will be fine with using that. I have always been told that anything over 5000 pounds, for safety, you should use a 2 5/16" ball. The trailer is 2215 pounds dry, so with my wifes car we are looking at roughly 6200 pounds. Will I be ok with a 2" ball? Any insight from all you guys that tow a lot will be appreciated. My truck is a 2013 Platinum 4x4, 5.0L.

Thanks
Neil

I think U-Haul would not rent you a trailer if they were putting you in harms way. Let's see what everybody else thinks.

I dunno about that, man. U-Haul rents 5 ton trucks to soccer moms who have trouble backing a minivan. The crap I've seen people do with a U-Haul never seizes to amaze me.

Sorry, I was just being optimistic, we sell motorcycles to guys that run into the building getting out of the parking lot.

Thanks

I pulled the same trailer with a 1979 Ford LTD beast on it across half of Texas and Louisiana with no issues at all, just let THEM hook it up so if anything happens, THEY are liable.

I see no problems tho.

I pulled a 4x4 explorer on a u-haul trailer with my 2010 fx4. You will be fine. Just take it easy, give yourself lots of distance for stopping and don't drive like a cowboy.
