Default TT Towing w 3.7 v6 supercrew

I bought a new supercrew w 3.7 v6, 3.73 rear end, towing package in 2011 thinking I would use it for road trips, tent camping and utility trailer hauling. It works great for the 3 original tasks. I recently bought a 22', 4100 pound TT. It drives fine around town w 6th gear locked out. On level highway, it holds 5th gear (cruise control) at 65. On a 2% slope it holds 4th gear (cruise control) at 65. On a 4% slope it holds (cruise control) 3rd gear at 60 and 3800. At a 6% slope it holds (cruise control) 3rd gear at 55 and 3500 rpm.

Wow I have a 3.7L as well and have never heard of anyone hauling such a large trailer. Glad it does well.

We pulled our 4000# trailer all over N.A. with a 4L V6 Tacoma. Worked fine except it was over-weight and really, really noisy when running at high rpms (uphill or against a headwind).

The F150 has a lot better sound deadening, and the 6 spd tow-haul tranny is much better than the Taco's 5 spd (no tow-haul).

With the Ecoboost, I 'm never really running at high rpm's, but I can imagine your 3.7L V6 would be a nice engine in this truck.

4100lbs isnt much really considering the towing capacity for the 3.73 gears is over 11k lbs and with the tow package he should have about 1500-1700lbs payload which would be way over the 10% tongue weight of 410lbs. My parents TT is 30' and my truck can tow it perfectly fine the loaded weight of their trailer is right around 9k lbs which is within my tow rating for my 3.55 gears and its lighter then the trailer they had before...

Yes, but what engine are you running? Were talking not only gears but the actual 3.7L engine which is rated to tow around 6300 lbs

Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem. I used to have a 4.2L that pulled a tent trailer. Worked great.

you have a point about the engines my truck has the 3.5 eco that would make the towing much different but wouldnt payload stay the same gear wise ?
