You'd be surprised what they can pull! If I want a good mix of pulling power and tire speed I use 4 low 2nd gear on my 2008. I don't like posting stuff like this topic on this forum though because it's just a matter of time before the "experts" chime in with **** you don't need to be told and how dumb it is ect. But I'm like you , if the truck can't hold up to a pull what's the good of it? I don't beat on my truck but I'm sure as hell not scared to use it! It's a truck!
So 4 low second gear eh? Seems like that may be kinda slow, but maybe not. I thought about maybe 3rd....once I figure out how to shift 4 low lol

I don't have any experience with the 6 speed. And yes my truck is a truck I use it to work and play hard abc it still cleans up nice to take the boat to the ramp or the wife out to dinner! I'm not scared to load it up, pull something, scratch or ding it! It's a goddamn truck after all!

Well you have the 6 speed right? My 08 only has the 4 speed I don't have any experience with the 6 speed. And yes my truck is a truck I use it to work and play hard abc it still cleans up nice to take the boat to the ramp or the wife out to dinner! I'm not scared to load it up, pull something, scratch or ding it! It's a goddamn truck after all!

Where did you guys read that someone said they were going to break their truck....or get that someone said you can or can't do something like pull a sled? You read way too much into a post. I made a couple good suggestions. Be prepared. Oh and not to knock the OP, but if you think you could pull a sled and break something and get it replaced......good luck. A twisted frame, cracked frame, broken leaf hanger, broken leaf.....I wish I knew that mechanic that could get that kind of obvious abuse covered under warranty.
It's been a long day. Sorry to be an ***......but I was really just making a couple of suggestions that might make for some good mods and get you further down the track. A pick up is not factory built to pull a real sled. Many many vids on youtube of some very heavy duty trucks built for the sled going home totalled.

Only a matter of time op. I've yanked on stuck rigs with lots of slack in the strap and not budged the stuck rig and I've also hooked onto heavy things and dragged them around like helping a backhoe up a hill. I didnt end up with a twisted and cracked frame and broken leafs and complete carnage. Up to you what you wanna do with your truck op. Grocery getter/ coffee runner or work it like a truck. Again here comes the bashing for using a truck as a truck

my 150 is the first truck that ive "used" my last truck had plenty of top end but sucked at towing but even though i use it i wash it every week (sometimes twice a week) and wax it once a month.

I just don't get where I'm bashing for giving advise. Yall have fun. Keep assuming that I drive a grocery getter. Never said that I don't drag around heavy trailers or pull stuck fire trucks with my 2wd 95 4.9. You guys are way too sensitive to somebody offering advise. As I said, we used to have a mud pit and pull track with different class sleds where I live. A sled is way heavier when the transfer box makes it to the top of the sled and we saw allot of broken trucks every weekend. Using a truck as a truck is great. Using a truck for tractor pulls is a different beast. Anyway, sorry to offend those that know better.
