I found that when I ordered my hitch it had like 3 different names on the box all listing different part numbers but only hitch inside. It had drawtite, curt and something else on there. It's rated for 26k and leaves. Flat load surface with the ball flipped. I would suggest a spray liner with the gn hitch install to protect around the drilled holes. Also they add less than 10lbs to the truck per bullet liner which is the one I used. Checking stats your truck as equipped should be around 5700 to 5800 gvw which leaves about 1400 to 1500 payload. Gvw is based on 150 lb driver and full fuel. I really think you will be fine.

Everything in this thread is nothing more than a guessing game. OP, post your actual payload number. That is the only way you will get any good advice. Everyone is guessing and assuming right now. KR Kodi has just over 1000 pounds of payload. I have 1760. Some have 2200 What is YOUR payload number? That is going to be the determining factor on what you can tow

Apparently things that were missed at the 50K by a dealer!
Lots of flushing of fluids and refills. Replacing the spark plugs, a new battery...
It is well taken care of overall by us, and we plan to keep it a while so worth the investment.

My payload is 1642.

Truck is back and moving nicely...Better after that bit of $! But, next month or two I will also be replacing tires...trying not to break the bank but have good driving and hauling tires.

Thats a decent payload number, bur probably still fairly limiting for a gooseneck. Lets assume 500lb for people and cargo in the truck. That leaves you with 1142lb of remaining payload, which we will round up to 1150. Assuming a 20% hitch weight that leaves you with a max loaded trailer weight of 5750lb. That puts you right at your max payload. Now heres where the fun begins. I wouldn't have the slightest issue going up to 4 or 500lb over payload on my truck, assuming an appropriate set of tires and some kind of suspension help (timbrens, airbags, etc). Some people will tell you that if you go a single pound over capacity you are bound to die horribly in a fiery crash and take everyone within a 5 mile radius with you. You have to decide what you are comfortable with. Assuming 20% hitch weight every 100lb you add to the truck is another 500lb of trailer. If you are comfortable being 400lb "overweight" that 5750lb trailer just became 7750lb

So worst case I plan for a 3500lb GN, 2000lb of horse (*IF* I am carrying two. 90% of the time it is 1) and some gear- which the heaviest item will be a water tank. I can handle that I was thinking of adding Timbrens or SuperSprings anyway, so might be more of a reason to.

With the smaller lighter gn trailers you wont be at 20% pin weight probably closer to 12 to 15%. You should be good to go no problem even with a light 3 horse.
