I'm a bit embarrassed to ask but...
I got a new 2015 Lariat (with max tow pkg and a 3.73 rear differential) this past winter and have used it to pull a 19' Airstream for 2,500 miles this year - and it has been great!
But I am unable to get a digital reading for the transmission temperature. I have gone through the settings options a dozen times but can find nothing, other than the "normal" gauge (non-digital). Any suggestions? Thanks.

it will show up if it goes up enough that you need to see it.

Fleming, did you come to the same conclusion that I did - that we are unable to get a digital reading? I thank others for their advice but either I am too dumb or, as I am sure, the new (2015/2016) Lariats DO NOT have the option of a digital gauge! I hope I am wrong but...
I have read the manual (on line and paper), fussed with the options, and looked at past comments on the forum and come to the conclusion that Ford removed the digital option on the new Lariats, it makes no sense but for some reason it seems we do not have it.

According to the information posted here, the temperature number will show up above the electronic gauge, similar to your miles to empty on the fuel gauge, if you exceed a certain threshold. Even towing my 7500-8000k trailer through the hills of Tennessee at 70mph my gauge barely even moves so I guess I will not worry about it.

Haven't seen my problem mentioned yet. I have a 2013 ecoboost 3.5 and i tow a 27ft. trailer with weight about 5400 to 5600. on a resent camping trip had a steep pass about 4 miles long and lost all power. Had to pull over and let tranny cool to below half of gauge. this happened three times before descent. Need to know what i need to fix this problem. HELP!

is tow haul engaged? if not do so. also limiteding the the trans to 5th or even 4th gear reduces temp by taking more rpms and moving more fluid around at a faster pace. thats what i do with my 5.0 on longer uphils towing i just bring her down to 4th gear and let er' rev and i havent seen over 211*.

Just make it downshift and then don't let it shift back up until you top the hill. I would lock out 6th gear the whole time you are towing. When you get to pretty steep or long hill lock out 5th and maybe 4th depending on how steep and long it is and how fast you are going.

If you are doing this and still having the problem I would begin to suspect a faulty trans cooler thermostat. Or a clogged cooler. Or maybe a bunch of gunk and weeds and whatnot clogging up your cooling fins on the radiator and trans cooler in the front of the truck.

True story. Added a Derale dual pass heat sink post radiator cooler, did nothing to lower temps, only took them longer to reach the same temps as before.

The highest tranny temp I've seen has been 212 on the digital gauge on the dash of my 2014 XLT. It soon dropped back to 200 to 205.

Default Just thought I’d add to this

Was pulling my 20’ TT, ~5000-5500lbs, with my wife, our dog, and a bed full, 1100 miles from Wyoming to California. 2013 3.5EB 3.31 gears - hit the grade coming out of Primm, NV on 15S going around 60 with the cruise control set. Was around 105* out. Truck tried shifting up to 6th before dropping back to 4th - I had my digital readout displayed and watched it climb to about 231* before I killed the AC and pulled over to let her cool down. Probably didn’t need to bother after reading most of these posts, as I was almost near the top, but I didn’t want to risk it. Still had a few hundred miles to go. Popped the hood and let it idle for a minute or two - dropped back down to 205* in no time. No weird sounds, no yellow/red line on the dummy gauge. Prior to that, the highest it got was probably 218* pushing 70-75 up grades near Park City, UT. I was probably being too careful - should’ve just trusted the truck. It pulled and performed flawlessly, even with the 3.31.
