Am I missing a digital temp number somewhere? My 16 Lariat only has the digital style gauge at the top of the dash with no actual readout anywhere, or in any of the menus.

I would guess its under towing screens, maybe? On my 13 its under gauge mode or something like that.

I agree, I have no complaints of how it performs. If I want to go 70 up a hill, I can. I just don't like being that hard on her. I try to keep my hill climbs in 3rd gear or higher, and I don't like when it downshifts to 2nd on me on a heavy incline. In tow mode it just lingers in gear so long with the engine screaming at 5k rpms.. I just kept hearing that transmission temps should not exceed 220* or something like that. I don't want to be slowing killing my tranny if I can avoid it.

Thats old thinking with old Dino fluids.

We are using a very high grade expensive synthetic oil made to run at these temps.

it will show up once you exceed a threshold. Same with engine temp. No numeric readout is a good thing so don't worry.

Well Going up the Rockies on I70 mine hit 235*, but when not pulling a 6% grade it stayed between 204* and 208*. Never got even close to the red mark let alone yellow on the gauge. I wonder where the warning kicks in.

I did go up a 14% grade without a trailer, just the family, and the trans temp stayed at the normal 204*.

BTW if you ever want to scare the crap out of a passenger who doesn't like heights, take them on Scenic Bypass 12 in Utah. It crosses a ridgeline with sheer drops on either side, and NO guard rails!

This is exactly the old dino thinking I was already mentioning.

You can add all the cooler you want, wont make any difference because the fluid is thermostatically controlled where it exits the transmission to the already efficient factory cooler.

Forscan. You can add the trans and coolant temps permanently to the screen. There is a stick on it in the 2015+ section.
